Monitoring development

Monitoring development

We closely monitor our students to observe their development and to ensure the effectiveness of our education. This is done in every grade and followed across the years. We make use of various tools:

Observation systems (Bosos)

In grades 1 and 2, we thoroughly record the development of your child. This marks the beginning of your child’s continuous growth in our school. Using the Bosos method, teachers observe your child in a playful manner, providing insights into who your child is and what they can do, enabling the teacher to assign the right activities and tasks to your child.

Method-dependent tests

From grades 3 to 8, we observe students during lessons to measure their understanding of the studied material. Students check their work, allowing them to first observe their own progress. Teachers guide students in this process and discuss the progress of their work with them. At the end of a theme, a method-specific test is held to assess if students have mastered the material. If extra practice or instruction is needed, the teacher will address this with the student.

Methode-onafhankelijke toetsen IEP

From grade 3 to 8, we make us of the IEP tests. The IEP test is approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science. This test assesses mandatory skills in reading, language, and maths in a way that boosts confidence in students. IEP also emphasizes on the social-emotional development through the ‘head, hands, and heart’-test, which we believe aligns excellently with our education philosophy.

These bi-yearly IEP tests additionally includes questions about material that will be covered in the future, allowing us to identify students who are “ahead” of the curriculum. These students might then receive additional challenging materials (refer to 3.1).
